First winery in Nynäshamn
The project will contribute to starting a commercial winery that aims to produce a Swedish quality wine.
About the project
The owner of Torö vineyard wants to start a winery to produce quality wine from grapes from their own vineyard on Torö in Nynäshamn. The vineyard currently grows three grape varieties, Solaris, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir. The project will contribute to the first winery in Nynäshamn, and the goal is to create a new type of small-scale, local production of beverages in the Stockholm area. The Leader support will go towards investing in the winery's equipment, which will be chosen with a focus on sustainability, durability, and long lifespan. The winery aims to produce a locally made wine of high quality, with high aromatic complexity and a clear terroir character in the Nordic climate.
The project owner also sees how future farm sales of their own wine can create a new destination that benefits other businesses within Nynäshamn's tourism industry. The winery is intended to be established in a location near Ösmo, where other local businesses in local food, ceramics, and restaurants will also benefit from the new operation.
