Leader Stockholmsbygd is a non-profit association that works with rural development. We can grant support to associations, businesses, and public organizations that collaboratively implement development projects in the Stockholm archipelago and countryside between Norrtälje and Nynäshamn.
Our focus
Local initiatives show the way
Leader is a method for rural development that was introduced by the EU in 1991. The method's successes are based on local anchoring and initiative. Another important building block is collaboration between local organizations, businesses, and the public sector. We believe that the development of your place is most effectively carried out by those who live and work there – by you, your association, local businesses, and other organizations.
Through Leader, there is an opportunity to apply for support for development projects that contribute to the goals of the leader area's strategy.

Our strategy
Leader associations exist throughout Sweden, and all have developed a place-adapted development strategy. Leader Stockholmsbygd includes the municipalities of Norrtälje, Österåker, Vaxholm, Värmdö, Haninge, and Nynäshamn. Together, the private, non-profit, and public sectors have identified needs and development opportunities for our geographical area.

Three partnerships
Our board
Leader Stockholmsbygd is a non-profit association where the work is led by the association's board, the LAG board. The board consists of 19 regular members representing the private, non-profit, and public sectors; for example, officials from municipalities and the region, active members of associations, and representatives of the local business community in the area.
Their combined expertise and anchoring in local networks provide unique insight into the area's conditions and needs.
