Fresh stone mill

In 2024, the recipient purchased and installed a stone mill for grinding EKO-grown grain. The mill is now part of a resource center for small-scale grain handling and can be used free of charge by farmers who only pay for electricity consumption. Färsna stone mill is the only mill for grinding larger volumes in the northern part of Stockholm County and can become an important asset for farmers throughout the Stockholm region.

Färsna resource center for small-scale grain handling was created to contribute to the maintenance and development of small-scale organic grain cultivation for a richer and more varied agricultural landscape. As part of this, Färsna stone mill will serve a unique function for artisanal processing of grain and educational activities. The mill also contributes to local food security and preparedness in times of crisis.

The project included the purchase of a stone mill with a sieve with a capacity of 500-1000kg/day. The adjustment was done voluntarily by members of the economic association Roslagskorn, who also contributed to the material for the manual that has been developed.

The educational components consisted of posters that tell about the mill's history and about grain grinding in general. During the project period, a mill day was organized for industry professionals, and in addition, there were resources for a number of study visits. Of course, investments were also made in necessary protective and safety equipment.

The project is completed and approved by the Swedish Board of Agriculture.
