Nature and culture
on Runmarö

Naturochkulturum is a digital experience room that makes it possible to discover Runmarö's natural and cultural environments in a completely new way.

About the project

Runmarö will, in collaboration with the app Naturkartan, create a digital knowledge bank aimed at attracting more visitors to the island. The digital solution will highlight Runmarö's unique natural and cultural environments, and by combining geographical information with rich digital content, a hybrid experience is created where the visitor is both present in the landscape and simultaneously has access to a comprehensive archive of knowledge.

In the app, a large number of locations can be described based on their unique nature, culture, and history. For each location, there is a catalog of images, texts, and explanations related to, for example, flora, geology, cultural traces, or other interesting phenomena. The visitor takes all the information directly to the location – and can explore it at their own pace. The app becomes an open knowledge bank, where exhibitions, guided tours, and educational material make it easy to understand and experience Runmarö's natural and cultural environments. By highlighting both the historical heritage and today's landscape, the opportunity is created to strengthen identity, pride, and faith in the future on Runmarö.

The initiative also contributes to new collaborations between associations, businesses, and residents, learning and inspiration for schools, visitors, and the local population. Runmarö's Nature and culture becomes a living forum where visitors and residents learn more about the diverse nature found on Runmarö.
